How much does a DWI or DOEP class cost in Texas?
By Texas Court Counseling · Published
Every licensed provider in Texas teaches the same state course, but prices vary a lot. On October 5, 2026, the providers we checked charged $50 to $150 for the 12-hour DWI Education class and $55 to $125 for the 15-hour Drug Offender Education Program (DOEP).
Published prices at a glance
| Class | Other providers | Travis County's own class | Ours |
|---|---|---|---|
| DWI Education (12 hours) | $50 to $150 (22 providers) | $70 | $42 |
| DOEP (15 hours) | $55 to $125 (8 providers) | $90 | $50 ($60 within 14 days) |
Outside the big cities, some county probation departments run their own classes too. McLennan County's, for example, charges $90 for DWI Education.
Why prices differ for the same class
The state sets what the class must cover: the hours, the tests, class size and the paper certificate. It doesn't set the price. Each provider sets its own fee, and Texas only requires that it be one definite, reasonable fee for the whole course, not charged session by session. So a higher price doesn't mean a better or more official class. A certificate from any licensed provider counts the same.
Extra fees to ask about
The advertised price isn't always the whole cost. Before you pay, check for:
- Late or same-day registration fees. Several providers charge more the closer you book to the class, sometimes more than double.
- Rescheduling fees. Some charge to move to another date. Travis County's classes, for example, charge $50 to reschedule.
- Rush certificate fees. Texas requires every provider to get your certificate to you within 5 days, so paying extra for speed rarely buys much.
- Workbook or materials fees charged separately from the course.
Paying over time
If paying all at once is hard, some providers accept pay-later services. We accept Klarna and Affirm, along with Apple Pay, Google Pay and cards. Affirm offers different plans depending on the amount.
Our prices
Our DWI Education class is $42 and our DOEP is $50 when you book 14 or more days ahead. Both are taught live on Zoom, with free date changes any time before your class starts. The cheapest in Texas, guaranteed. See how the guarantee works.
